The Godhra riots in Gujarat at the age of ten left him homeless, and after his mother’s demise, he found himself in Dongri, Mumbai, at the age of 14. Determined to survive, he took on odd jobs to make ends meet.
Munawar Faruqui: Comedy Career & Brush with Controversy
In January 2020, Faruqui embarked on his stand-up comedy career, addressing various societal issues with humor. His rise to fame on YouTube, boasting over 4.62 million subscribers, included a viral video titled “Ghost Story” with 21 million views. However, his journey was marred by controversy in January 2021 when accusations of making offensive remarks about Hindu deities led to his arrest during a performance in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Despite lacking evidence, he faced rejection of his bail plea until the Supreme Court intervened after 37 days.
Reality TV Triumphs & Personal Life
Faruqui’s career took another leap when he won Lock Upp, a reality TV show hosted by Kangana Ranaut in 2022. Following this, he delved into the music scene with a Punjabi song titled “Todh” in collaboration with Prince Narula and Rony Anjali. The pinnacle of his reality TV journey came with the Bigg Boss Season 17 victory in 2023-24.
On the personal front, Faruqui has navigated the complexities of relationships. He shares a son with his ex-wife, Jasmine, from a marriage that ended in 2022. According to reports, the equip weighed around 30kgs and the adornments for the tune was lovely. It had taken over 200 craftsmen, 600 days and 400 kg of gold to induce the pieces right for the tune.
